Fellows
The Miranda Family Fellowship
The Miranda Family Fellowship was developed to support emerging artists from communities that are historically underrepresented. The Fellowship is a collaboration with partner institutions and provides wrap-around programming to support artistic development, increase understanding of the business aspects of their careers, and connect their artistry with advocacy.
Fellows are vetted and selected through our partner institutions’ application processes. Please see application opportunities by clicking on our partners’ tiles at the bottom of this page.

Supporting Ongoing Creative Growth
Developing our Fellows’ creativity doesn’t stop at our partner institutions. We continue Fellows’ artistic growth through ongoing workshops, seminars and conversations.
Supporting Ongoing Creative Growth
We tailor specific workshops based on the needs of our Fellows. Past programming has included writing seminars with guest artist Ren Dara Santiago, collaborative readings of work, self-tape intensives and so much more.
Supporting Ongoing Creative Growth
Along with workshops, we provide panels and conversations reflecting on creativity and art-making in our industry today. Such guest speakers have included artists like Nicole Brewer, Roberta Pereira, and Elizabeth Gilbert.
Holistic Approach to Professional Development
As Fellows prepare for their careers in the entertainment and arts & culture industries, we ensure they have the tools to navigate business as emerging artists.
Holistic Approach to Professional Development
We’ve hosted sessions on financial planning, investing in your craft, and how to legally protect your intellectual property with guest speakers from talent agencies like WME and lawyers from Filmmakers Legal Clinic.
Holistic Approach to Professional Development
As Fellows enter early-career status, they often encounter contracts and potential job offers. We help them assess these opportunities through resources like our on-call entertainment lawyer and network.
The Miranda Family Fellows Showcase
Due to COVID-19, many of our Fellows’ school showcases were cancelled, postponed, or released in 2020 when there wasn’t much attention nor work available. In response, we created a virtual showcase ourselves.
The Miranda Family Fellows Showcase
We assembled a team with casting professionals to structure the process, and brought on Tony Award-winning actor Karen Olivo to mentor the Fellows on their materials.
The Miranda Family Fellows Showcase
After four months assembling all the moving parts, 180 industry professionals attended. All 21 Fellows who participated connected with either a casting director, talent agency or manager, and 10 Fellows officially signed with an agent or manager.
