Released in 2016, Walt Disney Pictures’ 56th animated feature film tells the story of Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a Polynesian village’s chief who is chosen by the ocean to locate Maui, a legendary demigod, that assists her in reuniting a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti. Lin-Manuel contributed music, lyrics and vocals to the movie, which was nominated for 2 Academy Awards — Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “How Far I’ll Go.”
